  • Greater effectiveness thanks to batch order picking
  • Immediate retrieval of internal orders, external orders within an hour

Customer

Faymonville, the Belgian manufacturer of special transport and heavy haulage trailers for trucks, specializes in individual transport solutions.
Faymonville trailers and semi-trailers are designed for payloads of up to 1,500 metric tons. The vehicles are sold in 42 different countries and
more than half of all customers come from Europe. The company employs around 500 people at three locations in Belgium, Luxembourg, and Poland.

Task definition

Faymonville decided to centralize its storage facilities, which until then were spread across three production locations, completely reorganize its intralogistics, and introduce a more efficient working model. The new central warehouse had to have room for around 17,000 articles and these had to be readily available for employees and customers as and when necessary.

Solution

The storage and retrieval solution consists of six Shuttle XP 500 systems from Kardex Remstar. The graduated height of the storage lifts makes optimal use of the space available. The entire process is controlled in the background by Power Pick Global warehouse management software from
Kardex Remstar: It not only manages the storage units, but also controls the entire process from putting to retrieval. A special counter was installed behind the storage lifts to meet the requirements of the employees in the repair workshop and serve the customers’ needs for spare parts. On the righthand side, the Faymonville employees are able to submit their requirements; the customers are served on the left-hand side. A catalog featuring pictures of the materials helps to locate the article more quickly, even with older production series.
