Task definition

Galderma’s solutions for aesthetic and corrective treatments are filled in syringes. The product portfolio range is wide and will continue to increase, resulting in a more and more intricate supply chain. A complex product structure is limiting the flexibility in production planning to supply all market needs in an efficient way. The task was the introduction of a buffer storage system, prior to the assembly process, to allow for a more flexible and efficient production planning and reduce stock levels for finished goods.


The solution provided by Kardex Remstar is a fully automated semi-finished-product storage system with Megamat RS vertical carousels, automatic handling trolley and conveyor system. As there are very high quality / tracking standards and requirements in the pharma industry the Kardex solution includes a controlling and inventory system for the intermediate storage using RFID technology for reading and tracking. In addition, the system is delivered with a fully automatic trolley for handling semi-finished-products automatically without any manual operator handling in front of the storage units. With this solution Galderma can store and pick from the intermediate storage according to need. A high degree of machine reliability and safeguard against human errors is guaranteed by the custom-tailored service and maintenance contract.
